Servo Motors

Indramat servo motors move machinery in precise and accurate ways, governed by sensors and programming to move to specific places. A number of servos may work together to accomplish one purpose.

They’re called servo motors because they don’t run freely like other motors. They follow the instructions given to them by the drive and control, so they serve the drive and control. This term was first used in the 19th century, when servants were common, and the idea of distinguishing the new type of motor by the fact that it took instructions made sense.

Now we use the term for motors that respond to feedback from sensors. The servo is programmed to move to a certain positions, for example, and the sensor gives feedback once the position is reached.

Some of the most popular Indramat servo motors:

  • MAC Motors
  • MDD Motors
  • 2AD Motors
  • Frameless Motors
  • MKD Motors
